His acclaimed book about that challenge, Life After Deaf: My Misadventures in Hearing Loss and Recovery, was published in November 2019. This webpage is devoted to what I've done to cope, what I’ve learned about hearing loss and communication, and what it might be like for you or someone in your life. An estimated 40 million American are deaf or hearing impaired. Our numbers grow every day.
